Scarecrow Festival, 2017
2017 is the eight year of the Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival. The event is run by the Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean. The Scarecrow Festival is a fantastic event that gives businesses a unique and different way of promoting themselves. It reflects the creativity and vibrancy of the town and brings the community together.
All entry fees for the competition and donations to sponsor a hand-held scarecrow are given to local good causes.
On Saturday 1st July, it was The Scarecrow Parade. This parade was led by the Town Crier while the Co-Operative Brass Band played as they walked around Wilmslow Town Centre. Many children joined the parade holding small scarecrows that had been sponsored by local shops and businesses.
On Sunday 9th July, it was Wilmslow Show where scarecrows were gathered at Wilmslow Rotary’s stall. During Wilmslow Show members of the public voted for the best scarecrow. The winning scarecrow was from The Horse & Jockey, Gravel Lane.
