The Wilmslow Historical Society was founded in 1969. Its aims are to further the study of local history in Wilmslow and beyond and pass on knowledge to the local community.
We are currently working on commemorating World War I in our area in conjunction with Wilmslow Town Council, the British Legion, churches and other local bodies.
On a month by month basis we will be publishing details of the 273 casualties to mark the 100th anniversary of their passing – these will be posted on the noticeboard outside Wilmslow Library and in various local magazines and newsletters. We are also going to be collecting, transcribing and publishing local oral histories about the Home Front and the Battlefields. Work on short biographies of local people has been carried out over the last 10 years and this work will continue and be published during the course of the next four and a half years.
Annual subscription is £8. Visitors contribute £2. Further information may be obtained from Mrs Pam Savage 01625 524777 or Mavis Timson by e-mailing: email@example.com
|A thriving church serving the community in Wilmslow through our weekly activities and groups.
Our Mission – Called to be God’s people, transformed by the Gospel and making a difference in today’s world.
Through-out the week we offer many groups and activities for all ages such as Thursday Tots group, Luncheon club for senior citizens, Junior Badminton club, book club and more.
Our Sunday Worship at 10.30am is led by our Minister Revd Dr Kirsty Thorpe. The service aims to meet the needs of all ages from the over 90’s to the very young. We have a crèche for babies and children under 3. We encourage our young people to take part in the first part of the service followed by our Sunday school activities lead by our team of Young Worship leaders.
Once a month we hold Messy Church an informal style of worship for everyone, regardless of age – all having fun with craft, food, games, singing and stories.
We welcome everyone to join us.
Our church building and halls can be hired for community events.
The Church Office 01625 532600 is open on weekdays (except August) from 10 am to 12 noon.
